Inclusion Project (e-IP), is the first ever ICT training in
the district since it was created in 1988 which integrates all basic ICT
components such as computer operation, Microsoft Office, internet browsing,
setting up and using email, social media networks, plus personal empowerment
and social skills training for children and youth, especially girls at risk of
digital and social exclusion
THE
PROJECT
The project,
titled e – Inclusion Project (e – IP) is
approximately 72 hours weekly training which will support the daily life of
rural young people especially girls in
today's digital society and help them in their day-to-day relationships, in
dealing with education, public services, culture, entertainment, leisure and
when participating political dialogues and community development initiates

OBJECTIVES
Our in-depth needs
assessment and focus group discussion with communities,
users, traditional leaders and the local government revealed lack of access to
ICT skills for young people as major challenge facing the communities deepening
the severity of the digital and social exclusion of the communities. This has
resulted in the high rate of unemployment and rural –urban migration of
productive young people especially girls term as “Kayaye”.
Project Objectives:

To revitalize the
library and transform it into a centre of excellence in the provision of free
ICT skills and personal empowerment support to young people especially girls.
·
To reduce the rural urban migration of
productive young people which stands 65% by 10% by the end of 2012?
·
To assist the unemployed to create
ICT-related employment and opportunities for themselves in their communities
that might not otherwise be available.
·
Empower girls/women
and other marginalised groups in order for them to benefit from the current
information revolution.
·
To forge new
partnerships for the library.
PROJECT
TARGET GROUP
Beneficiaries are young people especially girls between the ages of 12 –
24 from deprived communities in the Tolon/Kumbugu District of Ghana.
A group of 20 young people will be graduated every three months of
training to develop a core of 80 technology pioneers within 1 year. Training
sessions will be held from 7: 00am to 6: 00pm each day with two classes of 10
beneficiaries each (A and B) attending morning and afternoon classes
interchangeably.
Beneficiaries will also attend 18 hours of training weekly in confidence
building, public speaking, self discipline, leadership, and how to set goals
and achieve them.
TECHNOLOGY
TO USE
Personal computer will be used to provide practical ICT training.
Laptop and Projector will be used to provide presentations in
related to the project as well as forums and seminars.
Internet will be used
as part of ICT training and teach beneficiaries how to create social media
tools and e-mail.
Digital camera will be used to teach beneficiaries on how to capture images and videos
of compelling or success library stories, documentary evidences and sharing
best practices through social media networks like YouTube, flicker, and twitter, Skype,
blogs, and face book.
Television and radio will be used as a source of entertainment, leisure and information.
Local Radio
Partnership will be use as a
means of information dissemination about the new service to communities.
These will connect beneficiaries with one another, friends, families and
volunteers, share experiences, get informed about issues and reduce the digital
and social exclusion of the communities.

INTENDED IMPACT
Project results
To revitalise the library and increase its visibility, attendance,
users, visitors and membership. To set up free computer training and internet
access to the communities and the public. To extend the library working hours
from current 6 hours to 12 hours making it more available for users. Gain
political and local support, recognition and commitment to supporting libraries
as catalyst for community development. Forge new partnerships for the library
for the first time and connecting the library and the communities to donors,
stakeholders, experts, individuals, groups, and recourses.
Project impact
·
Beneficiaries should
be able to use the computer and internet in various ways like browsing,
e-mailing, typing, creating blogs, communicate using Skype and others.
Additional training will improve the ability of beneficiaries to interact with
stake holders, speak in public, conduct peer research and advocate for issues
affecting their full growth and potentials as well as advocate for the library
to gain support and resources to sustain the project.

Increase
participation in library studies.
These will not only impact positively on
individual lives but on families, communities, increasingly on poverty,
political process, democracy, public services and the economic and social
health of the nation.

The
library will bring together organizations and experts involved in agriculture
through network of partners, and using Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) to improve farming methods and increase farmers’ income.
THE
PROJECT
The project, titled E – Agric
Integrated Project (e – AIP), will revitalize the Gbulung Community Library
Service (GCLS) and created a network of partners that provide information and communication
services especially for farmers. The project will be coordinated by the GCLS
The library will be renovated and equipped with computers and train farmers to
use ICT to research farming methods and to advertise their produce. They will
also regularly host lectures by agricultural experts and local government
officials.

OBJECTIVES
Our needs assessment revealed that, food security, lack of expert
support in crop and livestock farming and agro unemployment are the profound
challenges facing the our target communities. While the major economic activity
of these communities are crop and livestock faming, but then they lack the
capacity to improve upon this economic activity and turn it into business and
employment opportunities.
Project Objectives:

To enable access to
e-Agric skills, information and support to farmers through the library.
·
To improve domestic
and commercial production and marketing of agricultural produce.
·
To
assist the unemployed to create Agro-related employment and Agro-business
opportunities in order to reduce rural urban migration of young people
especially girls and women.
·
To increase the
income status of farmers to support rural livelihoods.
·
Special focus on
promoting the participation of women in agriculture.
PROJECT
TARGET GROUP
The beneficiaries are a group of 50 farmers from 5 selected communities
that will be involved within one year.
The farmers will be grouped into 5 Cooperative Farmer Groups (CFG) of 10
each and trained on how to use computers and internet to access agriculture
information, modern methods and techniques of farming and live-stock production,
market prices for produce and inputs, as well as online resources and
consultation with experts in crop and live-stock production.
Capacity building and training workshops will
be organized for farmers every month to equip them with the needed capacities to
effectively utilize the new service.
TECHNOLOGY
TO USE
Personal computer will help us to conduct direct training to farmers on how to use the
computers in typing, operating internet, and basic literacy.
Laptop will help us
to conduct presentations to farmers and stake holders.
Internet will help us
to train farmers on how to access information using the internet, help farmers
to access online agricultural information and online consultation with experts
and consultants involve in crop and live stock improvements.
Digital cameras will help us to capture images and videos of compelling or success
library stories and sharing best practices through social media networks like
YouTube.
Skype, blogs, Google, and face book will
also help us in communicating and
connecting beneficiaries to consultants, market, and volunteers in order to
share experiences, get information about inputs and prices.
Local radio stations will be used to inform the general public about the new
service and share information with other farmers.

Extensive
and creative marketing, through mass media, making films and distribution of
business cards to farmers.
