GBULUNG COMMUNITY LIBRARY SERVICE (GCLS)
That the library
should be the “center of excellence”
in information provision, community development and ICT education in the
District.
The mission of the Gbulung
Community Library Service (GCLS) is to contribute
to the improvement of the quality of life for all people in the community by providing a
welcoming community center where people of all ages and walks of life can come
together for social, cultural and educational experiences, and by providing
informational and recreational resources for community members’ enlightenment
and enjoyment.
Our Core Values
Our values reflect the work we do with our members, our
partners, and the community to shape and realize libraries as catalyst for
community development by strengthening access to opportunities to change lives
and communities.
We do this by:
Collaborating to achieve more than we could individually.
Listen to our members and represent their views.
Working nationally and internationally to share good practice, and
to build the capacity of our staff to promote change.
Been proud of our past and confident about our future.
OBJECTIVES OF THE LIBRARY
Our objectives will be pivotal harnessing
whatever resources, human or material to make the library a place where you can
share the experience of reading and learning; where knowledge is free; and
where you know that the advice and support available to help you is expert and independent
of any vested interest and to demonstrate that the library is an essential part
of community life.
- Providing a safe place to develop reading, arts, literacy and life skills, especially for young people.
- Supporting access to information and encouraging digital inclusion for everyone.
- Supporting communities and vulnerable people.
- Create an enthusiastic and supportive environment for innovation.
- Collaborate with consortiums, other institutions, and the community to provide better services to our users.
- Ensuring that all library customers have a positive library experience.
